Pregnancy is a time of intense emotion - both positive and negative, so you may experience increased stress.

 

Massage and reflexology can really help reduce stress and anxiety, which in turn can improve sleep, mood and reduce pain. Studies have shown this not only gives fewer complications in labour, but can also have a beneficial effect on baby too.

All of the treatments I offer here are perfectly safe during pregnancy and as always, I adapt any treatment to suit your needs. However, I have listed below a few of the treatments I offer, in which I have had specific training in for pregnancy......

Massage is a fantastic way to reduce stress and help relaxation. Ongoing stress increases release of stress hormones which can have a negative impact on childbearing and development.

When relaxed during your pregnancy, you will have steadier blood pressure, pulse, and respiratory rates; regular blood flow to uterus, placenta and foetus; a healthier immune system, more balanced emotions, and healthier responses to stressful situations.

As well as stress reduction and relaxation, massage can help with back and pelvic pain, headaches, cramping, plus boosts circulation and respiration.

​

We also use essential oils, which we blend especially for you. Emma is a Clinical Aromatherapist, and so is qualified to combine oils which are safe to use in pregnancy, and at a safe dilution. I choose oils to suit your needs... whether it be to aid sleep, relaxation, digestion, circulation, muscular or skeletal aches and pains and more.  A wonderful way to increase the many benefits already provided by massage.

Reflexology is based on the principle there are reflex zones on the feet that are linked to corresponding parts of the body.

Maternity reflexology is simply using reflexology techniques, focusing on nurturing the woman and her baby on a physical, emotional and spiritual level throughout pregnancy, labour and during the postnatal period.  

​

During your pregnancy, your body will go through significant changes that will affect the emotional, hormonal, psychological and physiological balance of your body. Although it is an exciting time, pregnancy can sometimes present challenges and discomfort whilst your body adjusts and learns to cope with these changes.  Reflexology can be a great support for dealing with this imbalance, helps relieves stress and tension, aids deep relaxation and creates a sense of well-being.

Research has shown that regular reflexology treatments during pregnancy can shorten the duration of labour, with many women requiring less pain-relief and is a fantastic way to reduce stress and help relaxation.
